Fantastic place to visit , by far better than my expectations. My son took me for a treat , we went down into the mine. Very educational insight into coal mining and the lives of the miners. Also the dangers related to mining and the safety procedures. Fabulous guide who made the tour both exciting and fun. Best value for money time I've ever had. Well done to the lovely friendly staff.

With the privilege of growing up in South Wales and surrounded by coal mines which my own Dad worked at one (Caerau Maesteg) a wonderful day out with two grown up children and four grandchildren aged 6-9 with excitement, wonder and a bit of fear, we all went down 300 feet underground, the guide we had was extremely knowledgeable and funny giving a fantastic insight of how the people of Wales lived (my Dad) it was unbelievably so emotional, not forgetting the horses who stayed down there for 50 wks of the year 😔 and that's not all to see there as there are lots to see in one of the other buildings is lots of memorabilia even the pit head baths remain, with my childhood icon Max Boyce song ringing in my ears, my eyes fill up once again. From the second we got there honestly now, EVERY single person who works there made a very unforgettable impression on us all, NOTHING was too much trouble not even All the questions the little guys threw at them, well done and thanks to each and every one of you who work there, you are so lucky to work with such lovely people. A must to visit, young and old, we had a wonderful day even the little guys loved it and can't wait to go back, wasn't expecting to go back so soon though, as I was back the next day doing a 100 mile round trip to retrieve a lost phone. Thank you all so much😘

What a fabulous way to celebrate St David's Day! Some friends and I went down the Big Pit and we had the best day out! A massive 'diolch yn fawr' to Iain the miner who took us down. He was a lot of fun! Very jolly, jovial and really made the trip fun and entertaining. Such a fabulous museum. So important to keep the history alive 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Ps - card & colouring book will be in the post 😉

Amazing place to visit, the history of mining is very humbling, a very tough life for the workers and their families. Did the tour down the mine, very good guide and well worth a fiver. You pay £5 for parking and the museums are free. It really is well worth a visit.

I just went there on a school trip, and it was amazing. the only thing was that the lift down to the pit can get crammed on busy days Note: King coal can get really loud, bringing some headphones if you hate noise.
